... a fascinating woman took a generation of young teens under her wing and carried us into a world of music, fashion, television, and movies. Over the past several decades, attempts have been made to characterize the enigmatic Ms. Stavers. But one thing is indisputable. An unlikely bond was formed between Gloria, her readers, and the teen idols she helped create. She remained fiercely loyal to the impressionable young minds and emotions of those of us to whom 16 Magazine was so important. Many musicians, groups, and actors of the 50's, 60's and 70's can attribute much of their popularity to Gloria's enthusiastic presentation in the pages of 16.This site is my humble tribute to Gloria Stavers with hopes that she will be remembered here by those who knew her, or were influenced, supported, or inspired by her, and to introduce her to those unaware of her tremendous influence on music and pop culture journalism. Fans and Faves alike are welcome here! I look forward to sharing memories with you. Those whom Gloria has brought together let no number of decades separate!
Just found this site, can't wait to explore it. "Glory-Luv" (as I recall one "16" letter-writer memorably addressing her) and all she gave simply can't be explored and appreciated enough.

So many deserving people have been included AND excluded from the HOF. It doesn't add or subtract from what they really accomplished, so I try not to get too caught up in it. But yes, inducting Gloria into the HOF non-performer category is clearly justified. By the way, only 3 of the 39 honorees in this category are women, all 3 of them inducted with a male colleague.

If you ask me Gloria Stavers should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Without her, a lot of the rock and pop stars of the 50s, 60s and 70s would've remained unknowns. She was passionate about her work and it showed. Nice to see her getting some recognition at last.

Like I said on Facebook, this woman means the world to me. She understood us young teenage girls. I was a teenager in the 60's. She knew our hearts and minds. Along with the advice columns she gave us our Rock and Roll Heartthrobs. I wrote to her once and talked about my love of Mark Lindsay and thought I probably won't hear from her and about 2 months later here comes a real autographed picture of Mark Lindsay with the signature that said Love you much, Mark Lindsay. I loved that she did that for me. I adore, miss and love her very much!!
