Less than two years after being handed the editorial reigns of 16, Gloria's knack for identifying talent was already evident. She introduced the new column "Going Places" with these words:
"This is an important feature in "16." It will appear in every issue. Its purpose: to introduce and encourage new but unpublicized young talent in entertainment arts. But without encouragement, even the best-equipped falter and fade away; the stars that might shine tomorrow are lost in the haze. If, through this series, "16" can help prevent that, we'll feel proud."
Decades later, "Jerry Landis" would twice be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 1990 as half of Simon and Garfunkel and in 2001 as solo performer Paul Simon.
I'd say Gloria was off to a good start, wouldn't you?
